Understanding shutter speeds

Slow shutter speed

Fast shutter speed
  1. What is shutter speed? The length of time that image sensor/ film is exposed to light.
  2. How does shutter speed works technically (in camera) and visually (in photo). The main effect on higher shutter speeds is that the individual frames appear sharper due to the motion blur. motion blur occurs when the subject moves within the frame while the shutter is open. Visually the faster shutter speeds appear clearer then the slow shutter speed.
  3. What is the relationship to the exposure triangle? There are 3 parts to the exposure triangle and those are aperture, ISO, and shutter speed. So when one is changed the other 2 have to be adjusted to get a good photo.
